Internet explorer is not standards compliant, and has a lot of problems with some things. Do yourself a favour and try Firefox;

you might also like this if you want to save some money! It is a more or less 1:1 "Clone" of Microsoft Office, but much smaller and faster, with Extra Features! Quite legal it appears. Works great and is free.

I agree with you Mike, Hank should go over to Firefox. I have been using it for a
good many years now and have no problems downloading anything, excepting of
course Archive Books via Google.
They are a real pain in the posterior, the books are supposed to be out of copyright and free, but any copied by Google are often poorly done and very difficult to download.
I have given up with them, any downloads on the Archive site with any mention
of Google I ignore. You can see by the download numbers shown that that is the
opinion of the on-line public.
How they managed to con so many libraries to let them anywhere near their books, amazes me.
I have been feeling a bit 'grottie' for the past few days and needed a good grump.

As I have a couple of original books it doesn't bother me. What bothers me a lot with some books, especially if I DONT have the originals, is when plates are missing, or so poor ( Google often only scans black and white and even then very poorly!) that they are useless!

Even worse is when you buy a book and the plates are missing! Really got me annoyed when a bookseller I have used for years, ( but shall remain nameless!), sent me a fairly expensive copy of Reid's " Clyde Style Flies" with no colour plate! I finally managed to get a pretty lousy scan, but such things can be very annoying.

Ah well........such is life!

I bought my copy new and the colour plates are not to good in my copy too. I think the original is awfull!

Hi Ruard,
You have to remember, this book was originally published in 1971, a time
when Clyde Style Flies were an obscure form of fly, only fished by a few
thousand very localised anglers in Scotland. There was not much interest or information on them, except for rather short references in Lawrie's and Skues books.
The book was quite cheaply produced as a private venture and the graphic techniques of the time were quite expensive. It took a good few years for the interest to be sufficient to produce a second addition in 2003.
Still no excuse for a copy with the illustrations missing.
I got a second edition for £14.95, when it came out in 2003, which I thought
at the time, and still do, a good bargain.
I'll admit it has its limitations, but it the best available, if you can get a half
decent copy that is.
I have been looking at the prices on ABBooks, ridiculous, I was lucky with the £14.95.

I don't know the year of print of my book, but there is only a sentence that the first print was in 1971. There is a price of 9.99 (pound) but I don't know how much I have paid for it.

Mark, I remember something you did asked if anyone knows something of an Ash-fly. In the book of Reid there is an Ash Dun:
A variant of the Blue dun. Can be used for most of season.
Whisks:light grey dun hackle fibers
Body: silver-grey tying silk
Wings: Light starling, light side out and tied upright
Hackle: light grey dun
