A Little Muddy.....

Post by DOUGSDEN » Sat Apr 23, 2011 8:25 pm

Dear Forum Friends,
I was relating to our pal Bill (tie2fish) about how muddy our local waters are....except our small ponds. They vary from just a little off color to completely muddy. Our streams and rivers are bank to bank, blown out, and rank as can be. My wife commented this morning that she can't remember a spring like this one. The ground is totally saturated and the forcast is for rain practically every day for the next seven.
Is anyone else having water troubles of this magnitude? I kinda miss the clear waters and the challenge of tiny tippets and wee flies!
Happy Easter everyone!

DD,

Even though we've had three very nice days, our rivers are still blown out. Just when it looks like they'll clear and drop, we get more rain or the snow pack starts to melt off and muddies them up again. Our ski areas are looking to stay open til mid June, so we may have high and off color water for some time.

Our streams are almost at flood stage today. Looks like more rain on the way.

We're fortunate here in that the Gunpowder Falls is a tailwater that clears up quickly in the C&R section.

Lots of rain here aswell. Most of the Freestones are blown out. The tailwaters are in very good shape.
