If you would stop bangin out all of those kids maybe you could get a new rod and go fishin.William Anderson wrote:You guys keep coming back with this Tenkara chit chat and I'm going to have to pull the trigger and try one. I have a couple 10' rods that I find ideal for the kind of upstream deadrift softhackle presentation, but something completely different looks like fun too. I just need some time on the water.

snipped. (was that too personal?)

Re: Tenkara rod
I fished my new Amago today what a monster rod compared to the Ayu and Iwana. Thirteen and a half feet it was a handful in a strong breeze, but it was fun to fish.

Haven't had a chance to fish my new to me Ayu yet (thanks Narco) but playing with it in the yard is fun. Can't wait for the water levels to go down a bit so our year round stream is open.

Did you try it double-handed and, if so, what was it like? I'm pondering that rod for that application...narcodog wrote:I fished my new Amago today what a monster rod compared to the Ayu and Iwana. Thirteen and a half feet it was a handful in a strong breeze, but it was fun to fish.

DD, no I didn't use it two handed. But I don't see why you couldn't. You will be able to use two hands for landing a good size fish. I was fishing a double nymph rig with a BB weight. It handled that set up just fine. Oh, I used one of Tenakra Bum's level line 13 1/2 feet and about three feet of 5x.
