Grey Flag ww and Grannom ww

Post by Ruard » Sun Dec 26, 2010 2:56 pm

I was reading a book about flyfishing: Miracleflies 2 of Leon Janssen. It is mostly about dry flies but the chapter about a grey sedge inspired me to tie a wingles wet sedge: the Grey Flag ww and with a little modification the Grannom ww.

the Grannom ww just from above.

Thread: Danville's black
Hook: Hayabusha 390 #12
Tag: flat goldtinsel
Body: dubbing in a split thread
Antennae: fibers of the tail af a Lady Amherst
Hackle: grey partridge
Head: peacock

The Grannom is just the same except for the tag this is fluo green antron.

The dubbing: 60% grey squirrel, 20% muskrat, 10 % olive antron, 5% hare from the pelt but only the spikey hairs, 5% seal olive.

Ruard - Wow! These are remarkable. Outstanding flies, and the photos present them beautifully. Kudos, my friend.

Ruard,

Very nice flies and well tied.

After some discussion with Mike a couple yearsago I came up with this for a Grannom. It works well here on Washington streams.

Beautiful flies. They should match those grannoms well. The photos do a wonderful job at showing the detail.
I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

Ruard,
I simply can't say it any better than Ray (letumgo) can. These are wonderful pictures of a very classy looking pattern! Well done friend!
