You could fish that fly, but I'd frame it. Absolutely gorgeous tie, Ron. As for the hook, ...the 201. I know there isn't a lot of difference between the 200 and the 201 and I can only describe it in terms of cars: I hate the '55 Chevy but I love the '57. My father and my uncle have disowned me for perpetuating such heresy.Ron Eagle Elk wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2024 9:00 pmMike, Whadda ya thinking, TMC 201 or maybe just a Mustad 3906B. This is an Irish style lake mayfly I did some time ago on a 3906B. I think the proportions are pretty close.Mike62 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2024 5:21 pmI just came back from a day of driving around the woods checking the pond ice; it's still here. I actually like your variant better than the original. I seem to get some tippet twist with those flies with palmered cock hackle on the body. I'm going to use your pattern and see if I can tempt some brookies out of some local ponds. I think I have some seal that will do just fine for the body.

Kindred spirit here. Hate the 55 and 56 Chevy, but love the 57. Had a 57 Bel Aire with a 327 and 4 on the floor, but always wanted a 57 Nomad. Also wanted a 56 Ford Crown Victoria.Mike62 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2024 7:12 amYou could fish that fly, but I'd frame it. Absolutely gorgeous tie, Ron. As for the hook, ...the 201.
