PMD Flymph

Post by Ron Eagle Elk » Sat Mar 30, 2024 5:28 pm

There was a flymph tying contest on Farcebook that is being judged by none other than our very own Old Hat. Thought I'd tie up my favorite PMD and submit it. You lucky folks get to see it too.
The hook is a Mustad 94842 size 14, working silk is Kimono 11 in Castle Grey (379), the tail is Wood Duck, the body is a mix of hare, chopped short, 70% yellow, 15 % olive and 15% is a red/brown mixture I had laying around. I used a Clark block to make the bodies using more of the Kimono Castle Grey and Bailley's Tyer's Wax. The hackle is Hebert Minor hen in the Honey Dun color with an almost white list wrapped through the thorax. When I developed the fly about 7 years ago I left the head grey or black. Jim Slattery said it should be orange, and he was, of course, correct. The head is Pearsall's Hot Orange #19.

That is a beautiful tie. Fantastic. I love the hook choice and the proportions are perfect. You da' man, Ron.
