Are those feathers from a dyed rump patch? It looks close to the coloration of one I have dyed heron gray. I do love tying with pheasant. Tons of inexpensive hackle and body material. No wonder Jack Gartside liked them so much.

It is not died. Natural feather, just north of the rump. The gray is the "gimp" marabou type feather showing through.
