Heritage series Mustad iron
Playing around with the new heritage series Mustad "apex gap" and breathing new life in to some of my favorite classics.
The waterhen bloa and the partridge and orange. Both tied with Pearsal's silk and per the original dressing given by Pritt.

I actually can't find a model on the box. It has a long series of numbers but doesn't seem to corresp ond with the hook when you type it in. Best I can tell they might be called "apex gap". Also the stores carrying the heritage series like J Stockard don't have these listed. I just found them because my son rolled a ball down stairs into the fly shop at bass pro. Beware tho if u find them order 2 sizes smaller cuz they run really big

It appears to be the "CURVED WIDE GAP DRY FLY HOOK - BARBLESS/MODEL CW58XSAP". Mustad also sells a barbed version of the same hook. I was surprised to read "dry fly", but as I study the hook I can easily imagine this being used as inverted (hook point up/curve down) dry fly imitations.

Here is a link to a similar looking hook I use that costs a pittance of brand name hooks. I highly recommend it.

T-12,
Magnificent patterns! My hat is off to you for creating such beautiful flies! This begs the question, "does the hook make the pattern?" In this case, NO! I feel that your work would still be just as beautiful if tied on different hooks! Do what I did! Put your thumb over the exaggerated bend of the hook in each of the pics. What is left is your exquisite tying!
Great job friend! I really like your style!

Fish when you can, not when you should! Anything short of this is just a disaster.
