Bead head dutch phesant tail
Randal Kaufman says this is his most productive and versatile nymph.
Tail: phesant tail fibers
Abdomen: phesant tail (color of choice)
Rib: fine gold wire
Legs: CDC (color of choice, tied overly long and behind thorax)
Thorax: peacock herl
This is a fun and easy tie. Like that he does the legs behind the thorax like cal bird did. Looks more natural to me but I'm not a fish. I do think on some I might omit the peacock herl thorax and instead do more CDC (maybe in a darker color) trimmed short and spun in a dubbing loop. The look will basically be the same but the short cdc fibers will trap a lot of tiny air bubbles.

Oh man....you don't need to "try" it. Just buy some. Or better yet harvest your own! That's what I do. I think by now it can be lumped in with hares ear and peacock herl as a "magic" material. Goose "cdc" is the best if you're a hunter. But if you harvest your own it's a b!£ch to dye.
Re: Bead head "dutch"
Very well done. I do something similar with a Redquill nymph I use.
Well done.
Well done.
