Hidy Iron Blue Dun

Post by Old Hat » Fri Dec 09, 2022 4:00 pm

Here is a nice Iron Blue Dun pattern given by Hidy. It is a little variation of his from what most of us are used to. This variation is found in Famous Flies and Their Originators, Overfield, 1972. I haven't tied one of these before. Definitely putting some in the box.

Claret Silk
Mole dubbing
Dark Blue Dun hen for hackle and tail.

I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

You tie on a different plane, Carl. Elegance without pretention; so well done.

Thanks gentlemen. I forgot to mention that I tied this with the open wraps in the thorax so that it rides the surface a bit more.

Carl,
Yet another example of your impeccable tying skills! What a great representation of the great Iron Blue Dun! Simply wonderful and a joy to look at! We all know what the fish will do with this classic!
We would like to see more of what you have in your mind!
Doug
Fish when you can, not when you should! Anything short of this is just a disaster.
