What do you think would have happened if Mrs Sawyer, I believe her name was Margaret, did not have any Chadwicks 477 wool in her knitting box. Would Chadwicks 476 or 478 been just as effective? How about if she only had some mottled grey knitting wool?

My mom had a lifetime hobby of making beautiful sweaters and scarves, and I can tell you she spent more time and attention picking over the right yarns and buttons than just about anything we come close to with fly tying.

I forgot that Letumgo sent me a sample of Berroco UAF1214, plus a few other colors of wool yarn a while back. Thanks!
For those of you that were too late to get any of the Berroco UAF1214, here is a comparison of the Berroco UAF1214 vs the UAW6214. The color is almost identical, but the 6214 is thicker and has 3 strands. The 1214 is on top and labeled Chadwicks 477 Sub. Also in pic is 290 Oyster.

Another color worth looking at is Berroco Ultra Alpaca #62168 candy floss mix. It is a fine 3ply, 50% super fine alpaca and 50% Peruvian wool mix. I found it in my wife’s knitting basket! The wool has been a staple in many of my flymphs and wet fly patterns.
