Do you finish your heads on soft hackles with varnish, waxed thread, or how?

Usually I just wax the thread, but then again, everything I tie gets thrown at a fish.

I use head cement. For years, I used Hook & Hackle cement; currently using Orvis cement (water base). I have also experimented with UV cure, but it takes longer because you're using the light (torch).

Soft hackles just get the thread whip finish.... haven't found a reason to add an extra step.

For decades now I just use whatever clear nail varnish is on sale at the time. Works for me….

I have used both but I usually just whip finish with waxed thread.

Does it matter what type of thread you are using? I wax silk and use Sally Hanson on other threads.
