I use Rite Bobbin holders. I usually leave a bobbin of thread in the bobbin holder when I'm done with my session. But there is a "tag" end of the thread. I tried using some small O-rings to hold the end but none ever worked well, including a Wapsi product, which was difficult to attach. The other day, I measured the little ceramic tube (2mm), and purchased some silicone tubing from Amazon, and it works great! It's flexible, easy to attach, and I believe it will protect the tiny white ceramic end should the bobbin holder drop on the floor (I cut the tubing about 1/4" longer than the exposed ceramic tube).
Anyway, I have a lifetime supply (5 meters), so if someone wants some, just PM me with your address and how many bobbin holders, and I'll send some out. The tubing I have is 3mm OD, 2mm ID, so it won't fit every bobbin holder out there. But I bet you can find something out there which will work. Here's the link for the product I purchased:

Re: Thread Keeper
Brilliant idea Dale. You can also use the tubing for an adjustable strike indicator.

Re: Thread Keeper
thanks for the great idea... I've been wondering what I'd do with all the NZ indie tubing I have left over. I like the NZ wool indies on a 90degree rig..but I'll never be able to use up all the tubing that comes with the package... using it on bobbins will be a good start.

I've got a lifetime supply of NZ indicator stuff as well. But, to be honest, I prefer using the Dorsey indicator system.

I do not need Orthodontist rubber bands for it either. I use Dollar store rubber bands and just add a couple extra twists
