Three-Fingered Mike, (humor)
DAMN! Now that's the way to enjoy an evening!
Great pictures Mike. Those are some beautiful trout. Very healthy looking.
Love the caddis pattern at the end. Would you mind posting the recipe?
Is that rod built on the fiberglass blank you mentioned a while back? I like the green color blank.

Mike, that caddis pupa is pretty dang cool! I have been swing soft hackles for about 6 weeks. I have managed alot of fish, but only one as nice as your fish.
I have been thinking of adding a Swiss Straw wing similar to the wing on your pattern.
Good looking fish and pattern man!

Wing is medallion sheeting
Hackle is speckled hen saddle
Tie it in colors that match your caddis.
Yes, it's one of my blanks. This one is a 8' 5wt.

It's actually not a pupa, it's a diving adult.DUBBN wrote: ↑Sun Sep 25, 2022 12:07 pm Mike, that caddis pupa is pretty dang cool! I have been swing soft hackles for about 6 weeks. I have managed alot of fish, but only one as nice as your fish.

If you use swiss straw, glue two sheeets together with waterproof spray adhesive. The wings will last much longer.

No, I sourced them overseas. I worked with a company for over two years to get the tapers right. I have 5 sizes.
That pattern has worked great for me over the years.

Great looking fish and fly. I'd give $100 to catch fish like that here, but our creeks don't hold such nice sized fish as you caught.
Well done.
Well done.

Mike,
Look at these river monsters! This is amazing! God bless the caddis that He gave us both in the rivers and streams and on the end of our tippets! A wonderful thread you have started my friend! Stunning!
Impressed as always in the Den,
Doug

Fish when you can, not when you should! Anything short of this is just a disaster.
