Kimono!
Hey guys. I finally got some kimono silk at the recommendation of you all and I am so pleased with it. In my opinion it I better than Pearsall's in every way. Smaller, more "silky", and you get way more of it. The colors aren't exact to the edmons and lee but who's to say that even matters and they are plenty close enough. I wanted a color somewhere between "ash" and "gray" for hares ear and honey dun type bodies so I got #376 "ramen" and it's perfect. Only problem is....I accidentally ordered 5 spools of it hahaha. All that said would anyone want to do some trading for other colors?

What number is it? If I don’t already have it, I’d be happy to buy a spool from you.
I have many colors already (Carl’s fault)

Not going out of business, their silk thread is used in quilting and other sewing arts. I usually get mine from Superior Threads. Huge range of colors. https://www.superiorthreads.com/thread/ ... k/c/60-189

@letumgo -ya me too....that Carl guy is a bad freaking influence hahaha! What I have an abundance of is #376 "ramen". Im not really a fan of the green paper but would love to trade. If not I'd be happy to sell you a spool for what I have in it.
@willow -I've been getting mine off Amazon. It's a lot cheaper that way. If you're making a big purchase then superior threads would probably be a good option, but if you only want a spool or 2 then you will pay a few bucks more per spool, then pay more than the spool is worth for shipping. Amazon unfortunately has limited color options but etsy and eBay are also good sources. Just have to do some hunting and see what fits your needs.

Just checked amazon. They are only showing a couple of colors of Kimono @ $7.60 per spool, compared to Superior’s 5.99 and wide range of colors.Terrestrial12 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 30, 2022 9:04 am @letumgo -ya me too....that Carl guy is a bad freaking influence hahaha! Superior also offers free shipping on a $75 order, and shipping charges appear to be reasonable.

Re: Kimono!
Periodically check the Superior Thread site. Occasionally they have free shipping on ordered over $45 dollars. Also keep in mind they have a sample deal (5 random colors) for a reduced price. You could gamble and hope the colors are useful…

JohnMD ya that's exactly what I'm saying....if you are making a large order Superior is the way to go. If you're getting a single spool Amazon is the way to go. I got a spool for 6 dollars and free shipping and had it in 2 days where as the same spool was going to cost me 11 or 12 dollars from superior, so literally half price.
