Everyone who participated in the most recent fly swap was graced with one of Newriverspey's Coachman Variant. Its a really unique variant which must have come from his fertile imagination. I've not been able to find a version of the Coachman that incorporates some of his touches. So, what is one to do but copy. I've thanked him for including the fly in the swap and shamelessly begged for an extra copy so I could fish one and keep his swap fly for my collection of swap flies.
With that preamble, I did mention copy, so I've done a slight variant of his variant and only deviated from his recipe when I had to substitute a material or hook.
This is a mini me version of the Coachman variant and my variant of his variant... and I plan to take his advise and swing these flies on the Deschutes River as soon as possible

Ron,
The changes you made are subtle but it looks great! Let me know what you conjure up when you swing that fly, hopefully soon!

I’m not going to let no smelly fish ruin mine.
Guess I will need to make copies too.
Well done Ron.
