More of a flymph and nymph question I suppose but I figured under the materials heading would be most appropriate. Im sure I'm preaching to the choir...but as the obsession progresses from acute, to chronic, to terminal you start out buying seal. Then you want pup seal. Then you want unborn seal. You buy fox. Then you want vixen fox. Then you want pink urine burned vixen fox.
I have a few nice pieces of muskrat. I tie a lot of "fuzzy nymphs" and casual dresses and things of that nature. But i can't find "kit" muskrat anywhere! Is it really ant different or worth searching for? If so does anybody have a piece they could sell or trade for? Also...i know it's a BIG ask and a long shot but I'd really love to have even the smallest amount of plover.

I’ve fallen down a similar rabbit hole myself. I have nearly all of the yarns used by Rosborough except one or two. I’m almost positive I have an extra kit muskrat skin. I can check this weekend.

Re: Kit muskrat
Does anyone know the difference between a Kit Muskrat skin and an adult skin? I have a few roadkill skins that I have picked up over the last few year that are beautiful. Just wondering what to expect with a younger one. I assume the ones that I have picked up are adults during mating time.

I think the kit fur has fewer guard hairs. The picture shows a kit muskrat skin. The color is unusual though.

Hmm. Well if the kit has fewer guard hairs maybe it isn't quite what I'm needing after all. Being as I love the casual dress I've actually been looking for a skin pretty dense in guard hairs to get a nice full "hackle" collar. I can't imagine the under fur would be a whole lot different. I did find some interesting blonde color muskrat skins on etsy I was thinking about trying.

T12, I picked up a prime muskrat pelt from Moscow Hide and Fur. Beautiful color and dense in guard hair for that spikey look. Price was reasonable.
