Here is a pattern I tie for bluegill fishing I call the Tennessee Jed.
My honey hole has very large gills in it (11 3/4" is my best) so I tie it in a size 10 and use it for my bottom fly. Gills and small bass can't resist it. If you don't know what color they might key on...show 'em EVERY color haha!

Hook: Lighting Strike heavy nymph (size 10)
Tag: mylar tinsel (silver showing)
Underbody: same tinsel
Body: Danville flat waxed nylon in chartreuse, purple, flo-red, and hot yellow tied in together and wrapped simultaneously
Thorax: ostrich herl I dyed purple
Hackle: Whiting Farms hen hackle (white) I dyed to hot orange

I love this pattern! Absolutely wild color scheme. Panfish candy. Love it.

You must have to fight those bull Gills to keep them off that fly. That's a Gil and Crappie magnet. Believe it or not, I have most of the materials for that fly. Need some hot yellow thread and the fly shop is open.

Great pattern and very nicely dressed.

Ron just use whatever you've got man! I settled on these colors because they all contrast well and don't blend in together and "muddy". I tried silk, glo-brite floss and some other stuff but found that danville 210 lays the best. I also do the same fly in natural colors...brown, olive, black, white etc
