I'm not usually a pink kinda girl but the pink on this fly is a beautiful shade and so nicely counterbalanced by the blue. Stunning!
Thank you
Vicki

Hi Vicki.....i'm not sure what you mean.....let me explain. The head is actually a Hot Pink and nowhere as red as it may look in this pic, and if your refering to the bead and or the tag or the rib.....they are all copper, not pink even though they may look like it, in this pic. There is also just a little pink.....light pink in the bead.....but it's very inconsequential.....although it wasn't for me.....so what i mean by inconsequential is that there's just so little of it. But i actually did the head that way, because of it.....anyway, as long as you like it........your VERY welcome.

Sorry Mark. The tag looks like it perfectly matches the bead and the bead looked like a splash of light metallic pink from the pic. Might be my monitor. Anyway it's gorgeous! It balances beautifully!

No apoligises needed.....and the tag/rib material does almost perfectly match the bead.....that was the whole idea.....tag and rib being the same material.....but all of that.....tag, rib, bead.....is a copper color......does look a lot like a shade of pink in the pics. Probably because of the combination of natural and artificial lighting (in our dinning room), we used to take the pic. Thankx for the kind compliments.

This is a fly i was thinking of using for Steelhead or Salmon upstate in N.Y. back a few years ago.....never did try it out on the fish. Bead is just way to heavy to cast.....needs to be trolled.

Re: Artistic Hybreds.....for lack of a better term, lmao
This is a very recent tye.....just a few days ago. The hook is nothing special.....just a 7/0 and the bead is bout a 10 cent plastic bead from Walmart.....the fly was a LOT of fun. The eye is made from pure white dacron fly line backing.....i love usin' the stuff for eyes. It takes dye (Sharpie ink), VERY well. Although in this case i did not dye it. i did the head in little dabs of black here and there.....the thread is primrose Danville 6/0.
i stumbled opon something new by accident with this fly.....(GOTTA love it).....i first did a butt using black saddle hackle.....the long skinny genetic stuff you use for dry flies. Nothing usuaual there as i use that stuff for butts somewhat often. But, then i decided i was going to put a regular black Ostrich herl butt in front of that. Well, because i'm out of Zap-a-Gap, and couldn't find any clue.....my bead was slipping a bit as i tyed forward of it. So, at some point it got pushed back further than i wanted it to be.....and now i'm SOOO glad it did. The Ostrich herl got pushed "into" the saddle hack barbs, and the effect is marvalous.....you need to see it in hand to realy appreciate it.....but it's now a technique i can use over and over again when i want to. i can use white or any color i want with the saddle hackle, and then "blend" the Ostrich into it, in the same manor this happened by accident...........YES!!!!!

Thanks for sharing the learning experience with us Mark. The contrast of the black and white materials gives this fly a very classy look. Awesome!
