I just cannot agree more with all the postings from you guys above! Especially the ones about keeping old magazines and catalogs from years past! My wife is livid about this issue no matter what my reasoning! I think I will buy another bookcase (I don't know where it will go in this small den of mine?) and display them instead of keeping them in boxes in my outbuilding! Yes, she yelps about these classics even though they are not in our house!
Bill, your patterns are exquisite! The simplistic approach (Alan P.) to our sport seems to be the best and you have captured this really well! It is apparent that you have embraced this from your very beginnings! You have not abandoned this thru the years and this is an inspiration to all of us! Keep up the good work friend! We appreciate what you do!

Fish when you can, not when you should! Anything short of this is just a disaster.

DUBBN,
When I test fish the black ones this year the cast will include a more modern cousin the TDC which I have used for years as well...

the only difference is adding the white ostrich.
Thanks everyone! I hope you try these simple but effective old flies. Tie up some plain fur ones as well, my original ties include flat and oval tinsels as well. In different light and water conditions one might out perform the others.
Re: Henry's Fuzzy Nymphs
Sorry about the pattern, Bill. I have Xsmall Silver wire and Mylar. I chose Mylar.
Still I nabbed a few small browns in an ice choked Gunnison River with it.

Looks like fun!
Years ago, I made a Black Ice stonefly nymph used to fish the Boise River in January with ice freezing in the guides.
The Boise Valley Flyfishers and Ted Trueblood Trout Unlimited Chapter used to hold a Pre-Superbowl fly tying event.
