Re: A Small Wheatley Box
I must admit to fly box envy. I love the Wheatley boxes. After looking at this post for a couple of days I ordeed a small swing leaf clip box from Ian at Wheatley. I ordered on the 12th, it arrived yesterday. Lovely little box, I believe it has 84 total clips. I have to wait until after the eye surgery tomorrow morning to start filling it up.

Ron,
Indeed! Prayers for healing will go up for your surgery tomorrow! We want your vision at 20/20 and we want you back on the forum as soon as it's feasible and comfortable for you!

Fish when you can, not when you should! Anything short of this is just a disaster.

Hope all goes well with your surgery and quickly back tying flies. Ian was quick in getting out my two 1302 leax boxes, which now makes four of them for me plus another (same size) but no leaf. Small, compact and hold lots of spiders and soft hackles for this OLD guy.
Cheers and Good Health

Great looking spider/soft hackle collections.
Re: A Small Wheatley Box
Very VERY nice boxes, AND FLIES, of Course!!!!
I enjoy using a nice Wheatley box - however, there are pitfalls to deal with.
#1 - They sink.
#2 - even the largest box does not hold nearly enough flies.
Personally I use felt paged fly wallets: they FLOAT, AND hold TONS of flies….. tying tons of flies mandates the acquisition of tons of hooks……….you guys really didn’t think this was going somewhere else, did you???

Soft and wet - the only way....
Re: A Small Wheatley Box
Depending on the Wheatley box, you can cram in lots of flies in one box. Ever more if you carry 6 or 8 of them streamside!

Pssssttt…. Can I borrow some flies? (Kidding)
Fantastic selection of flies and well organized boxes. Mine are a jumbled mess in comparison.

Re: A Small Wheatley Box
Bob - I was just joking around. You’ve already sent me a set of beautiful flies, which I framed and have on display above my tying desk. Thank you VERY much!
