Re: Picric dyed hare's mask
Happy Thanksgiving John. That’s an inspiring example of what I’d rather be doing today. But I’m headed off to peel potatoes instead. Spuds ahoy!

Bill,
That Cornish Hen skin is beautiful! I can see many substitutes tucked away in this gorgeous skin! And, the wings are included along with most of the neck where so many of those small hackles live! Thanks for bringing this to us! I like it!

Fish when you can, not when you should! Anything short of this is just a disaster.

Thanks, Bill. I haven't shopped there for some time. One of those pretty Cornish Game skins and a Chukkar are headed my way.wsbailey wrote: ↑Wed Dec 01, 2021 11:33 pm Speaking of Cornish Game hens:

REE, you’ll really like the skin. I bought one for the wings on Leisenring’s Alder fly. These are full size birds so not many small feathers. They are ideal for the creative tyer. Quail skins provide some of the best substitute feathers. A white quail or chukar skin would probably work for dyeing.
