Re: A great book I found recently…
Thanks for the recommendation. I just bought a copy of the second edition from Amazon. The cover is different, but has same title and author. I look forward to reading it once it arrives.

William Blades was from Scotland and moved to the United States. He tied full dressed Atlantic Salmon patterns , bass bugs, nymphs and many other patterns. He also taught Ernie Schwiebert as well as Paul Jorgensen.
Great book.

Hank - Looks like I got a good deal. My copy only cost $23 dollars, with shipping.
Here is a picture of the cover of the one I bought (second edition).

I get a lot of books from Abe Books. I picked up a couple of signed, first editions for really cheap prices. They aren't worth a lot...yet, but I have them to enrich my fly tying library.

Re: A great book I found recently…
I received my copy of the book last weekend. Thank you very much for the recommendation. This looks like a great book, with lots of reference patterns from may different styles (wets, dries, streamers, steelhead, imitative mayfly, etc.).
Here are some more pictures from the book:
A nice listing of different hackle colors:
Example of the cool illustrations in the book:
Most of the illustrations in my copy (second edition) are in black-and-white:
Discussion of forming wings:
Overall, I am very pleased with this book. Thanks John.
