I'm a huge fan of Steve's feathers. Your picture explains why. Always top notch skins.

it's rare to have the head attached. Very small hackles are on the head and upper neck area. two thumbs up.

I have got to learn how to skin out an entire bird. My closest neighbor is a professional trapper and has graciously offered complete instruction this fall. That bird is gorgeous.

Fish when you can, not when you should! Anything short of this is just a disaster.

This is the first partridge I've seen with the head still intact. One of the finest skins I've ever seen. Congrats.

I remember reading that a while back. I bookmarked it this time so I wouldn't forget it. Thanks for bringing it back up! The larger fur bearers (mostly deer) don't trouble me, but my big, clubby, farmer hands are not the most delicate of instruments...Boarmountain wrote: ↑Wed Jun 02, 2021 10:41 amI have a post in the tutorials on how to skin and preserve a bird

From now on I will be ordering my skins from Cookshill. That is the best looking partridge skin I have ever seen.

I wish I had some of these while fishing last week. Looks like a very effective pattern. Good stuff John.
