Found this pattern iNorth Country Flies by Mike Harding and thought it was cool.
Hook. Allcocks sproat W205 size 14.
Silk. Pearsalls Gossamer purple.
Body. Purple silk.
Thorax. Peacock.
Hackle. Mallard over covert .

You were not kidding! It looks very cool....and edible (from a trouts point of view of course)! Please keep going and tie about a hundred of different patterns! Can't wait to see your next offering!

It kinda looks like a variation that I did a couple years back. Basically what I did was to add a peacock herl thorax to a standard Snipe & Purple. Also tied a few S & Ps with a hare's ear thorax.

The fly was originally created by Harold Howorth. He wanted a more durable version of the snipe and purple. Howorth was not the type to seek publicity. It was Donald C Townsend who wrote “Fly Tying with Harold Howorth”. It’s a book worth having though his modifications are not strictly in the north country fly tradition.
