A nice little read
A friend of mine in Ireland just sent this to me and I thought it was a nice read. I also thought it may be something you all may want to read too, so I'm happy to share it with you all. I really don't think any of you need this, but maybe just in case someone can use it.
It's from 2017, so don't pay any attention about how easy it is to get Pearsall's Silk.

Fishnkilts - The brochure was created by our friend John Shaner (screen name Greenwell), and is one of the references posted in another section of the forum.

Oh wow! That's awesome. I really enjoyed the article and thanked my friend in Ireland for sending it. I also sent it to a young man I know in Yorkshire who is starting to get into tying spiders. I will certainly download the newer version.letumgo wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 11:10 am Fishnkilts - The brochure was created by our friend John Shaner (screen name Greenwell), and is one of the references posted in another section of the forum.

Thank you.
Re: A nice little read
That was a good read and I agreed with most if it.
Re: A nice little read
I disagree on synthetics.
From the first time I added Krystalflash to a marabou tail, I was hooked.
I love the many options synthetics add to my wet flies
There are an awful lot of synthetics dubbings out there that when held up to a light, do not give off a milky , purple, hue.
Can more fish be caught using natural fur than synthetic dubbing? I do not know for sure.
LOL

Re: A nice little read
I have been recently using Dave Whitlock SLF Pattern Blends and I have had wonderful success with it. I like how on clear sunny days the sun makes these dubbings sparkle attracting the fish.
I also use Wapsi Natural Fur too and I'll use that for flies I fish on not so bright days.
I think your flies look stunning DUBBN.

Trilobal fibers come in synthetic and natural versions.

Thanks for both of those links. The thread descriptions on the Superior Threads site was great, I had never heard thread shape explained that way before.
