Re: Large Willow Fly
The brown furnace hackle goes so nicely with the woodcock wing. I like how the dark center list enhances the thorax region, while the brown tips compliment the tip of the wing. Very natural looking dressing.
Question - How do you tye in the wing? Is it tyed in facing forward, then propped up with thread wraps, or something different?

Exactly Ray otherwise you wind up with huge head! If done this way you also get a nice tapered body.
Thank you

Re: Large Willow Fly
Hi Tom - I love the simple, clean look you always seem to achieve. A couple nights ago, I watched your Catskill dry fly video again for probably the forth time. It reminded me this time of a quote I heard a long time back. The great pianist Arthur Rubinstein was talking about the music of Mozart. He said "When you hear it, it seems so simple, but the simplicity comes from art. Art is hard work, but a part of the art is to make it all look easy." I think that applies here.

Tom,
Such a beautiful looking pattern! It looks as if it's been tied one hundred years ago and I like that look! You really out did yourself on this one!
Give us more of this eye candy!

Fish when you can, not when you should! Anything short of this is just a disaster.
