I am intrigued by these being close to dotterel's. I see a trip out for them in the next couple weeks.

I got these quite a few years ago from Ellis Slater, via friend living in Germany.

Those appear to be starling wings, dyed orangish tan (burnt orange?). Very nice.

When it comes to subs, there are a lot of factors that come into play: color, size, shape and structure of each feather--. I don't have a dove, alas, but here's a pic of a dotterel, a (golden) plover, and a curlew, so you have a sense of the relative size of each bird. Long term, an ideal plan would be to do a digital featherchart as a sort of pictorial spreadsheet, so you could move different feathers around beside each other to make comparisons. Meanwhile....

Joe - Are the birds listed left to right? Just making sure I know which is which.

Being slightly color blind(newspapers to me are black and pink and read all over)and certainly not a photographer ( my tablet is my camera and my favorite backround is my coffee cup) I would enjoy comments on these feathers. The upper is the Collared Dove and the bottom is the Dotterel. The upper is slightly darker but has that light brownish tone or cast that the lower has. At least to my eyes :geek: :geek:

I appreciate the comparison photo also and it's nice to see the size of the feather stems also.
