Doug

Have been using Maxima Ultragreen for many years ... using Oliver Kite's leader formula (or as close as I can get to it) of 20# (54"), 12# (10"), 6# (10"), 5# (10") & 4# (36") as shown in his book "Nymph Fishing in Practice."

Bob,
Thanks for this interesting leader formula! From what I understand and have read and watched, Oliver Kite was a terrorist with a flyrod!
Thanks again,
Doug
Fish when you can, not when you should! Anything short of this is just a disaster.

I've also been called a 'terrorist with a fly rod'. Admittedly, the context is a little different.

Leaders are an obsession to me, a sort of madness. I fish mainly dries and wets. I've tied Borger's formulas, the 60/20/20 formulas. Furled. Favorites for me are the George Harvey "slack leader" formulas, the ones with the stiff mono in the butt sections. Another I'm quite fond of is AK Bests's leader that consists of even sections in the back with a sharp step down just ahead of the tippet (very accurate and precise). But I'm always experimenting. Sometimes, a knotless leader is just the ticket, so I always carry a few of them with me. Leaders: a never-ending affliction with me.
