Re: Midge Emerger
Great looking flies! I have fished the foam backed suspender midges with great results for years. I will have to add a wire rib version to my flies.

How are you fishing these? I’m picturing these as a point fly, but then thought you might be fishing them alone. Can you give recommendations on best set up?
Superb flies, btw.

Re: Midge Emerger
Ray, I am fishing them in a three fly nymphing rig. Usually an attractor pattern with an emerger, and or Baetis nymph underneath the attractors.
An attractor can be a size 6 Pigsticker down to a size 18 caddis nymph.
Right now the Tricos are everywhere. This little size 22 female trico soft hackle is turning a few heads.
On freestones and tailwaters.

Re: Midge Emerger
How light do you go on the tippet? Do you go below 5X, or are the fish to big for that?

Those all look great. One of the great challenges I have yet to successfully engage is trout taking tiny midges on top. This is a pattern I need to borrow.

Naturally elegant. Your stream time shows thru in your patterns.
