Adam—-wet version

Post by ocsofthackle » Tue Aug 11, 2020 5:55 pm

My take on the classic dry fly. The hackle is a less than perfect Cree hen hackle .Body of muskrat ,tail black hen hackle flues, silver wire rib, thorax peacock herb—- tied on a tiemco 900 by size 18 to 14. Been using this with success for years. As you can see I tie pretty full. At over eighty I still tie more in the style of the 40’s and 50’s.This light wire hook allows me to fish this in the film or just under the surface. Jack

I like your version of the Adams wet. I think most of us have tried it tied with Brown and Grizzly Hen . I never developed a lot of faith in that version. Your example tied with Cree looks better in my opinion. The dark tail you use looks great. I will definitely consider getting a Cree hen cape.

Well done!

A capital killer! I’ve been on a muskrat kick lately, and this version will make a nice addition to my flybox.

Thank you for the inspiration. ;)

Beautiful fly!
I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

Right up my alley, Jack. Hackle is just right to my eye. Nice slim body with just enough bling. Love the "Jaunty wee angle" of the tail fibers. Excellent dressing.

that hackle would pass for darkish honey dun, at least to my eye.... I quite like it.

see nothing wrong with that fly, so tie them how you like because you're the one fishing them.

The colors are excellent.
