Muskrat Gold
I combined a pattern I have used for years with Hidy's Gray Grizzly flymph. Not far off from my older pattern just fine tuned it a bit.
The hackle and tail are brown or dark ginger hen. Fine gold wire rib. A deep red silk thread. The dubbing is predominantly muskrat with the guard hair and pinch of hare to give it a slight brown hue.
I have always considered this pattern my "Adams" flymph. I used beaver dubbing before but I prefer this muskrat mixture.

I hate it when I think I'm buying organic vegetables, and when I get home I discover they are just regular donuts.

Thanks Carl, Beautiful fly!
I NOW have to tie some Ginger ones to go with the Griz hackles in my boxes. May give them a test dunk in the Crooked next week.

Not bad, for a “salt water” guy.

Haha, I’m not thoroughly enjoying the salt water fishing to be honest. The whole culture is not my cup of tea. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy getting out to fish, but the culture is all about the biggest baddest boat, gear and fish you can find and who can go to the most exotic place. At least down here it feels that way. Give me a morning coffee, a couple donuts and Some clean clear cold water anytime.

Carl,
Thanks for the inspiration!
My old dubbing blend of Muskrat and Hare also had some rust colored fur in the mix so I used Rusty Brown thread on # 14 hooks...

Ready to hit the Crooked and maybe the upper Met next week.
