Love these hooks.
The other day I stopped by my local fly shop to pick up a few things and chat with the shop owner. Basically, I needed to get out of the house. Don has a rack that holds items that have been ordered for customers. I spotted some Ahrex Salmon hooks that were really nice looking, but a bit big for the local brook trout. Behind the Ahrex hooks was a single package of size 7, Alec Jackson Steelhead Irons. The same classic, graceful curves of Alec Jackson spey hooks, but 1X-Stout, 1X-Short. Perfect size for the local Brookies.
After a night fighting a migraine, I sat down at the vise and did these. Not entirely happy with them, but not so much that I'll take a razor blade to them.
Alec Jackson Steelhead Iron Size 7, Black UTC 70 thread, Hebert Minor Furnace hen hackle, Larguntan small gold oval tinsel for the tag and rib and Larguntan silk floss for the body. Sort of a Fish Hawk type fly.
Second fly has the same hook and thread, UTC green wire size small for the rib, tail is GP Tippet, body is UV Ice Dub Shrimp Pink, Body hackle is grizzly dyed bright orange, Head hackle is Hebert Minor hen in black.

Man oh man, those are pretty. Remarkable body work Ron. Full dress salmon floss work.
I’d borrow flies from you any day.
Pst...buddy, can I borrow those.
Great pics too.

Ron, great tying and photography.
Re: Love these hooks.
Your patterns and photos are approaching ,(if not there) those of Hans Weilenman. I can not give a better compliment than that.
