Amber Gold, Purple and Yellow. The glint off the trilobal nylon is subtle but more apparent in hand.

Nice!

It that merino from a ball of wool or is it cut up and blended from a hide?

I agree with Ray. On that size 8 hook, October Caddis all the way. There's a river in central Idaho, last week in September, that fly would be worth it's weight in glitzy gold.

Johnno,

Here is the original blended wool and nylon skein before cutting the yarn into pieces about 1/2 inch long and fluffing it into dubbing in a coffee mill.

Ray and Ron,

As an October Caddis it can be fished any time of the year on the Metolius here in Oregon. ;)

Those April / October caddis were quite evident on the upper stretches of the Met last time I walked it. Cant wait until that stretch opens on the 22nd....I've captured a couple nice specimens for my growing bug collection..
