Received my copy yesterday after almost a 2 month wait. Must have been put on a slow boat.
My review is Excellent + . John Shaner's collection of Cutcliffe flies tied by Wooley is a treasure and the photography by his brother Stephen is extraordinary. Paul Gaskell has made a supreme effort in bringing this book to life. Well worth the endurance of 2 month shipping concerns.

I agree!
Mine came about 3 weeks ago and I don't think we live THAT far apart.
Gaskell put a lot of research into Cutcliffe and John's contribution of his collection is impressive.
I knew Shaner would be at the Fly Fishing show in Edison, NJ and took my book to get his "hancock"
to add with Paul's. Too much BSing got in the way and it didn't happen.
Well done, gentlemen.

+1, I am really enjoying this book as well for all the reasons already mentioned. I also have to smile at the contrast between Paul Gaskell's crisp, economical, modern writing style and the more expansive prose from Cutliffe. It must have been a much simpler time. Also noted that Cutliffe's observations of trout behavior and feeding habits hold up remarkably well 150+ years later. Well worth the read.

I spent yesterday afternoon, lying in front of the fireplace reading this book. My cat was not impressed, coming over and twice flopping across my book ("Your in my spot!").





I read thru the first section of the book, finding it both fascinating and informative. Very well done book.

Paul - Nice job. Thank you for the time and effort that went into this book. And thank you to John Shaner, and his brother for the photos of the flies. Incredibly helpful. This book is a valuable addition to my library.

If you look very closely at the photos you'll see a few spots that like as if the fur is a tad thin.

Just kidding. My wife had the cat shaved last fall, to prevent fleas. The vet shaved everything but the head and tip of the tail. Poor cat looked ridiculous. I couldn't stop laughing when she brought the cat home.

Right?? I do use my cats fur, it works quite well. My cat would never hold still to be shaved.....
