Wagon Wheel
Category - Soft hackle wet fly
Hook - Standard wet fly hook, size 4-8
Thread - Black
Tail - Black hackle fibers long, with a shorter bunch on top
Body - Peacock herl*
Hackle - Black, short, soft collar
*Reinforce peacock herl around the tying thread and wrap over a bed of crazy glue

That will hunt. That's probably the best herl body I've ever seen. Lovely fly.

I know, right? His are so elegant, almost bonsai-like. Mine come out looking like something that would grow off a 1980's hair band drummer.

Dang, Mike, I wish I had a like button to push. I'm still laughing. I've tried doing it the same way Norm does, wrapping the herl around the tying thread, I've tried it in a dubbing loop even. It never looks that good. Norm must buy real high quality herl. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
