Ray,

I think your color combination is great. I really like the way it goes from light to dark
when my eye goes from the bend of the hook to the eye of the hook.

My questions is about the thorax. If I understand correctly, the "dubbing" is yarn. Did you
chop it up and mix it in a seed/coffee mill and then dub it on the thread?

Thanks- Ken

Ken - Yes. The yarn is cut into roughly 1/2" lengths then blended in a coffee grinder/spice mill. It comes out as a really nice multicolored brown dubbing. Adding a couple pinches of seal fur adds a nice highlight here and there.

This gave me an excuse to play around with some new silk floss I recently bought. I loved this golden brown silk. Just looked promising, for a fishing pattern.

Beautiful tie, I love the silk taper into the dubbing. I think I would add a gold rib on the silk to carry this in a weighted version as well. When I see you again I might ask to borrow some sugar for the stream. ;)

That fly in that color will catch fish all day long up here. Very nice, Ray.

Beautiful dressing as always, Ray, and in a size an old blind guy could try. ;)

Curious as to any color changes when wet.

(After your post I did order that same set of silks. I just cant see good enough to untie the knots.)
