Nice indeed! Time to dig out my starling skins again.
Thanks for sharing the video link too.

Great looking fly! I like the combination of black ice dub with the starting hackle.

That is the type of pattern that is always in my fly box! 16 and under in that color, and many other color combinations, for me is a winning combination. Year round.
To copy, I would have to use Black hen or Black Mole as I do not have starling anymore.
Excellent pattern!

A ringing endorsement, if I've ever heard one...

Small starling hackles with various thread colors and a little peacock herl can make quite a few very nice (and effective) fly dressings.

This is definitely not in your league William, but I am sure it will work for me.
I tied them in 18 and 16 on heavy scud hooks.
I used a dark Olive thread that is a favorite of mine. Veevus AO5, 16/0. Also, I used Black hen.
I am hoping to swing them tomorrow, paired with Partridge and Yellow.

Is that ice dubbing, for the thorax?
Good luck tomorrow.

DUBBN,
That is a great looking tie!
My most productive flies #18 and smaller(outside of BWO hatches) are tied with either Black or $3 Dip Rust Brown thread.
