Partridge Tups Jinglers
Hook - Daiichi Model 1740 / Size 12 (Turned Up Eye wet nymph hook - 2X-Heavy)
Thread - 8/0 UNI-Thread (Light Cahill)
Collar Hackle - Hungarian Partridge (* whatever color you want/have on hand)
Thorax Hackle - Hebert Miner Wet Fly Hackle (Hen Neck / Natural Medium Grey Dun)
Tag/Rib - Fine Gold Wire
Body - Dry Fly Beaver Dubbing ("Sulphur Yellow" on the rear half and "Pink Fox" on the front half)
Head - Tying thread coated in SHHAN clear nail polish

(*) It is amazing how much the color of the partridge hackle has on the final appearance of the fly. I tyed some of these with natural partridge (grey phase), as some with natural brown phase and some using dyed blue dun. The finished flies looked quite different, even though the bodies and the thorax hackle are exactly the same.

I highly recommend giving this a try and throwing a few of these in your fly box. Looks like a nice tups variation.

Those are fantastic! I see what you mean about how the hackle color has on the appearance of the fly.

Very well done. I never have been good at putting colors together like that.

Very cool. I like the jingler idea but I haven't fished it much. I have a friend back in Oregon (Jerry Criss) who fishes a "dry" built the same way but with very short dry hackle in the thorax so the fly sits lower in the water. It is a great fly on a small spring creek with difficult fish. Here is one he tied up for me to compare.

Bill - Thank you for sharing the photos of Jerry and Carl. I will definitely add some of these flies to my fly box for spring.

Boy I'm sure did miss doing the show this year... I regret not having met Carl at that show in 2015... That may have been the year I met Roadkill.... Cris's fly is a winner too...and Ray I'm working on your Jinglers...

I enjoy listening to Jerry Criss when he is tying at Weekly Fly...
