Your signature thorax/hackle construction is very attractive. Sometimes I wish I was a fish.

Oooooh, I like it. I would offer to test it out for you, but our season has closed. I wonder if anyone uses flies when ice fishing. I would think casting to that little hone would be difficult.

Great looking fly! Ray...
Well done.
Are you using Jamiesons wool?

Lou,

Yes, I believe this is the Jamiesons wool yarn. I bought a bunch of colors from TenkaraBum (Chris Stewart), from his website. I recently reorganized my tying materials and rediscovered these yarns. They are beautiful mixed colors (lots of shades/colors within a given yarn), which results in a naturally mottled body color.

When time permits, I plan to play around with several other color combinations, to see what might be useful fishing patterns. I am a big fan of wool yarn for wet fly patterns.

Absolutely lovely fly, Ray. Wool is a wonderful material to work with. PLUS it's cheap, and you can find plenty of colors to mix. :D

Ray, I took a look at Chris's site and couldn't find the yarn. Do you have a link, just in case I should ever need such a thing?

Ron,

I sent Chris an email, asking if he still sells the yarn. I’ll let you know what he saids.

Update: Chris no longer sells tying materials. He said that all the yarns were Jamieson's Shetland Spindrift.

I found this link to their website.
