Allen's Mayfly Sawada, mind your coffee cup Hank ;)
Thanks to a nudge by ScottP after kindly listing and tying Allen's Mayfly for me, I've finally sat down to tie one myself. I've owned Sawadas book for a long time always liked the look of this pattern just never got around to tying it. My book is in storage and seeing some of Scott's beautiful Winged wet sawada posts reminded me of this tie.
Wishing you all a Happy Holidays, this'll be my last tie before Christmas Eve, so I tell myself

Karsten, you've got to pull yourself together - this is awful. Practise, practise, practise, and return next year or another year with something you don't have to be ashamed of.

Stefan, I have to say, you speak the truth as one would expect from a Viking, brutally honest!!!
I’m licking my wounds and shall return as u have suggested, next year or another year when my ties are more worthy.
If my next fly be it next year or another year is not worthy I shall have to visit you so you can sacrifice me to the gods, what other use could there be for me.
God Yulefest my friend. K

This may be one of the nicest woolly buggers ever posted up here.

Don't mind Jeff, Karsten. He has a warped (but thoroughly delightful) sense of humor. Personally, I think this is a shabby woolly bugger ... the tails are way too skinny.

I take offence at that comment Jeff!
Only one of the nicest, really, please show me a nicer woolly bugger that’s been posted here?
As to the skinny tail Bill, surely ur trained eyes recognise the fact that this fly has seen dozens of fish and the marabou tail has been stripped down to the bones... To think I used to to look up to u

fly_fischa, Howdy;
Thanks for the heads-up once again, should have mentioned the need for sunglasses
I'm more used to the Sun coming through the window to my right not from the computer screen
Anyhow, up to your nit picky standards I see ... after 30 minutes for pupils to reacquire their 'normal'

A beautiful tie, what is the name of the book this fly comes from?
Re: Allen's Mayfly Sawada, mind your coffee cup Hank ;)
Game, set, match. Beautifully tied, Karsten.

Gotta keep u on ur toes Hank, I can’t give u a disclaimer about all surprises! There’d be no fun in that besides I was just trying to bring u a bit of sunshine didn’t realise u were so sensitive to the rays m8
Merry Christmas m8
Thanks Scott and roadkill
Here’s the first link that came up when I googled the book. It’s beautiful mainly of winged wets not many step by steps mainly just photos and recipes from memory, well produced high gloss... Karsten
