Quick tie before bed, sz14 got a new medium brown dun hebert miner hen cape, some dun mallard flank and a beautiful Australian possum dubbing in olive, thought I'd incorporate them into this fly.
Rest of the fly is hendricks 0.1mm wire, Olive polish peacock quill using pale olive 18/0 spyder thread.
Not that happy with it but thought I'd share it anyway, probably would have been better off taking the whole fly against a darker background, oh well. Talk about wonky wire work, my eyes aren't what they once were...

That's a great design, Karsten. I don't know what size your olive colored mayflies are, but that same pattern tied in a Size #18 or smaller would be very effective where I fish.

Yeah. Terrible. Keep practicing, and eventually you will get better at this...
JUST KIDDING! (friendly humor)
(
sorry. i couldn't resist busting on you.)
All kidding aside, what a graceful pattern. Frame-worthy, and yet equally fishable. Brilliant little wee wet fly, mate.

Now that is a serious BWO pattern! The quill segmentation is plenty -- no wire needed. Simply exquisite, Karsten.

Thank u Ray and Bill, glad u like this one, it was a fun tie. Think I'm gonna tie a dozen and see how they fish in the coming season.

That second one certainly has BWO written all over it. Great pattern. I gave up #20's a long time ago. Eyes are going and I drink too much coffee.
