A severely underrated little fly rarely seen being used here now. Across and down on streams or fished verrrrrrryyyyy slllloooooowwwwlllyy on a lake.

Tail fibres of black hen, body of black ostrich herl with silver tinsel and a hackle of black hen. YTied bulky like a blowfly in sizes 10 - 14. Simple but deadly.

A great variation I came up with (The Nicholls' Black Gnat Blue Twist...) was to use blue lurex tinsel instead of the silver tinsel. We have a blowfly down here with a distinct almost metallic blue body and the blue tinsel twist just seems to work.

Nice! I can really see it's usefulness in warm water ponds, especially with a metallic blue rib.

What hook do you use? They have a nice wide gap.

Gorgeous fly, by the way. I'd fish that in a heartbeat.

Wow Johnno! I really like this one! Black patterns (particularly black flymphs) are a killer in my local waters! I really like the silver twist and the blue would be absolutely killer in anyones book! I also like the ostrich herl bushing out such as you have it! Overall, this pattern is top notch!
A TMC 9300 is very similar in looks to the Kamasan you have shown here! They list the 9300 as 2x strong and they are not kidding! Super sharp too!
As always Johnno, you do quality work and we just enjoy it to no end!
