Probably the furthest thing from your mind, but those could scare up some carp.

Re: Wool Bodied Partridge Peacock and Orange
Excellent work, (as we expect from one of the "masters" )
How does the Uni-yarn transform when wet? Some "orange" floss and the like take on an almost mahogany tone when wet and the yarn should show some translucency, making this a very fishable pattern indeed.
Try a few with your 1/2 kilo spool of orange wool yarn from downunder for your own fishing purposes. That stuff takes on some interesting shading if smeared with Gink.
Liking the fullness of the Peacock herl and the added "bling" of UV, sounds like an interesting product.

Re: Wool Bodied Partridge Peacock and Orange
Just my opinion. I have not noticed the floss changing color at all. Perhaps Ray and others have noticed something different. I do like the Uni-Stretch as a 'Hot spot" or when I use dubbing in a split thread. The veil from the dubbing seems to dampen the brightness of the material.Mataura mayfly wrote: How does the Uni-yarn transform when wet?

Re: Wool Bodied Partridge Peacock and Orange
Wayne,
Gorgeous flies! You sure know your way around a vice.
My pattern is tyed with UNI-Yarn, not UNI-Stretch. I love UNI-Stretch. It makes really nice smooth bodies on flies. The UNI-Yarn is fuzzy. I used the yarn to create a bit more fuzzy body. Here is a close up photo of the fly when it is dry (just before I took it fishing this morning).
Here are a couple photos of the same fly, after it has been fished. The yarn soaks up the water, and becomes just a little darker.
The sun light was focused by drop of water hanging under the body and reflected off the front of my camera. I love how the fly is lit. You can see a little translucency in the orange yarn material, and if you look closely you can see the iridescent reflection of the peacock herl body. The herl sort of has a purple haze to it, when viewed wet in direct sunlight. Pretty neat.
