Hi all, fairly new to the forum and am enjoying and finding inspiration in all these great ties.
I tie mostly spider and flymph patterns and lately have been using seal fur for dubbing. As difficult as seal is to dub and rib I prefer it for it's fuzziness, and the trout seem to like it as well.
This sulphur imitation has fished well this past season and am going to tie a bunch more in different sizes soon.
Tied on a Tiemco 100SP-BL hook with Pearsalls yellow silk, natural seal body with gold tinsel rib, ostrich herl thorax and partridge hackle.

Really nice looking tie.
I find Seal to be no harder to deal with than some of the modern synthetic blends with added flash, some of those can be difficult!
Did you brush the Seal fur out after wrapping the rib?

I'll have to submit a couple of other ties when I get some time.

Mataura mayfly - I gave the body a light brush once the fly was finished. I agree that some of the synthetics are difficult to tie with but they also seem to produce a nice scruffy, fuzzy kind of body.

An excellent sulfur pattern well tied, especially considering the unruliness of seal. Welcome, Grandtyer, to our fine group.

A wonderful sulphur pattern. I like tying with seal quite a bit. It's been a favorite for the past couple of years for a caddis pattern. This looks like it will work very well.
