Leisenring's Iron Blue Wingless

Tying up a few of these for fun. Haven't done some in a long while.

Hook: Gaelic Supreme Syl Nemes Wet, #14
Thread: Pearsall's Gossamer silk, crimson
Hackle: Honey dun hen hackle with red points
Tail: Honey dun, short
Rib: Fine gold wire, optional
Body: dark mole fur spun on crimson silk
Ribbed option full body

Them there, they are things of beauty. :D

Curious though, rib versus no rib, do you see a real difference in the way either would fish?
The Gaelic hook looks to be a fairly hefty hook and I am not sure the rib would add much to the sink rate, so it all comes down to that bit of flash, an eyecatcher so to speak?

Jeff, I'm not sure. Flash and weight, the rib probably doesn't add much. May be more durable though. As far as catching goes, sometimes that little flash can make the difference.

Durability, that is a plus. :)
Segmentation, also a plus. The dubbing/thread mix has an inbuilt segmentation, but the rib is more contrast and definite.

Carl, these are striking and some bold images. Beautifully tied. That's a gorgeous hackle on a cool version of this classic.
