Good evening friends,
Look what happens when there is just a slight crack in the window screen! Those darned house flies will find a way in every time! Sometimes, the magic happens upon the waters of our lives when just a simple black flymph in introduced. Our friend Bill christened them "Black Beauties" and I kinda like it! I have recently jumped back into spinning flymph bodies and tying flymphs and I simply could not be happier! There is something wonderful about these patterns and all their variations!
Please show me your favorites as I will try and get a few more posted in the near future!
All the best!!

:D  Thanks Bill. I was thinking the hackle might be grizzly. I was looking at the pic on my cell phone. I will study the pic on my big screen later.

Doug, you've got a nice proportion and color combination for the house flies. Very nice pattern and likely a killer pattern. EXCELLENT PHOTO!! love it and glad to see you posting pics.

Good evening fellows and ladies,
Hank, I'll see what I can do about that! Fishing time is at a premium lately with all the craptitude going on in my life lately but, your words encourage me so look out Sally, here comes the flymphs!
Bill, I am still chuckling about the recipe you posted for me! Chuckling because it is so true! Even the hooks are finished black. These are Gamakatsu's S10 std. down eye. I picked them up a while back and when I went to tool up for this latest round of flymphs, they just jumped out at me and begged to be used. They are wickedly sharp and have the tiniest barb! They are of a relatively light wire and that's o.k. They seem to hang near the surface a bit longer even when soaked and bedraggled. My locals have been raking them in with regularity when I can find a moment to dunk a few!
I really appreciate all the kind words about my tying and photography. I have some other patterns going around in my melon that I want to share in the near future so keep your eyes peeled for the latest! Dang, this is fun!
Ray, you had mentioned using a grizzly hackle in place of the std. black. I have tied them before and used them and they are more realistic looking than the black hackles. I will have to dig out my grizzled grizzly hen neck and see what that does. Great idea! There's a weekend project! I'll keep you all posted on this!
Enclosed are some patterns from the "flip side" of my flymph box! The other side looks kinda scanty so once I get it filled up with "black beauties" and such, I'll send the picture along.
Falling behind as always,
Doug
