Partridge and Orange (var.)

I thought about calling this a POP fly (Partridge and Orange Peacock) but that was already taken.

This is a new material for me. Peacock/Or tinsel it is called. It is a tinsel that is copper on one side and "peacock" on the other. I was hooked by the peacock side.

Anyway, I found it at the last show I was tying at, started playing around with it and incorporating it into a couple patterns. This simply was one of my favorites. I think it goes really nice with the partridge and orange. New material, but it keeps that classic look. I waxed the thread with a dark cobbler's wax to give that brownish look.

Handsome fly Carl. I love the look of the tinsel and the darkened coloration of the silk. Lovely combo.

Carl, this one should do all the right things. I saw this ribbing material recently and meant to get some at a show in Feb. Now I NEED a spool of it. :D

Thanks guys.

It's sad how quickly we can go from "interested" to "want" to "need" in fly tying.

I just returned from a week if sand in my shorts and in my grill, salt water on my skin and perpetual mild sunburn. Mostly good times, but I am dying for some time out on the water. Maybe later this week. This flop my amd dozens of others are just haunting me to your more, prep my gear (done...twice) and let everything else go. It's time. It's Time! =)
