Our friend Doug Duvall (Dougsden) has been putting in some time at the vise recently, and has sent me some of his handiwork to enjoy. Here is some it for your viewing pleasure. I'm pretty sure that Doug will be adding some info regarding recipes.

A trio of beauties. :D
The first almost qualifies as a Clyde or Tummel Greenwells spider. the third is a pattern I hold in very high esteem and a well tied/presented example.
The central flymph has a style to it that would not look out of place if presented by Lance as an example of his fathers work.... if the rib was a bit bolder. ;)
Very nice all three and thank you for the combined effort in getting them to us.

Bravo Doug for the beautiful flies! Wow. It is so nice to see another set of your flies. Spiders are such lovely little flies, aren't they?

Bill, thank you for photographing these and sharing them with us. Great job. I fished a couple of Doug's middle fly pattern when we were out in Yellowstone, and it proved to be a very effective pattern. They were a perfect match for one of the hatches which was going on at the time.

Thanks Guys for the words of encouragement! Yes, I will post the recipes soon and perhaps just a small history of each (not the orig. but my own). Number two is one that I have created but I have this sneaky feeling that someone in the past has made this one before unbenounced (spelling?) to me! That's what happens when you are not very creative, like me, and immitation becomes the norm! Although, I am still having a blast immitating everyone elses stuff! Once in a while, creativity eekks out of me and then it leaves again very quickly!
I will try and post some pattern recipes soon!
A very busy Doug outside the den

This always makes my day when I see a post from Bill mentioning something to come from the Den. Doug never fails to please and those are just my style. I love it. I'd be a fool to pick a favorite of the bunch but the first palmered spider is just the fly I would be looking for all season and for lots of reasons. Good lord you've got a nice touch. Starling and Purple, maybe the nicest I've ever seen. Thanks so much for sharing these.

Beautiful little flies Doug. I don't know if you left the tip on the starling attached on purpose, but I have always done that on my fishing patterns that use starling. I like the little white dot to show itself.
