Hook - Curved Caddis Hook (Size 10)
Thread - 8/0 UNI-Thread (Orange)
Rib - Medium Copper Wire (Natural)
Abdomen - UNI-Yarn (Gold)
Thorax - Two strands of Peacock Herl (dyed orange) - reinforced in a thread dubbing loop
Legs/Antenna Horns - Two strands of pheasant tail fibers (pointy ends tied in as legs, and then the rest is folded back to form antenna/horns)
Hackle - Hen Neck Hackle (Honeydun)

Interesting chunkier/heavier looking pattern. Is it an October Caddis imitation?

No, not really an October caddis imitation. It is geared towards steelhead, who sometimes favor brighter colors. The thorax is intended to be more egg shaped. I'll let you know if It works. Worth a try, anyway.

I like the horn, but, is it necessary for Steelhead? How accustomed are Steelhead to caddis ? You do great work Ray.

Wayne - The horns/antenna are simply me playing. Im hoping they add a little more movement to suggest life. The little fibers along the pheasant tail fibers should catch the micro currents and cause the antenna to move around freely. At least that is the theory. If they don't work, they can always be clipped off on the stream. All part of the fun. With any luck, they may work.

Besides, they look cool.

Bet you a 12 pack of cheap beer you never clip them.

You may not have intended this to be an October Caddis, Ray, but that was the first thing that came to mind when I saw it. Both the size and colors are perfect for that, and the "horns" give it the unmistakable look of a pupated caddis. Very crisply tied, with nice proportions and -- considering all of the materials near the front end -- a neat, little head. Another first rate original for your book.

This might provoke some movement from friendly steelies. I'm sure it meets the requirements.
